Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to ride?

Absolutely not! Take a look at the descriptions of our Social Hour Options and choose one that suits your needs.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

Helmets must be worn by anyone under 18 at all times when near the horses. Individuals over 18 may choose not to wear a helmet, except when riding. Helmets are required for all riding. We have clean helmets of all sizes or you may bring your own.

Is being around/riding horses dangerous?

We work hard to keep our horses calm, happy, and healthy. However, there is always some risk involved in working with and around large animals. For this reason all of our guests are given the basic horse safety guidelines upon arrival, are asked to wear helmets when appropriate, and will have to sign a release before greeting the horses.

What style of riding do you teach?

I teach the style of riding known as “English”. I do incorporate exercises known as being more “Western” in style. In short, I focus on developing foundational skills and confidence in the saddle with my riders, which are transferable to any style of riding.

Is there a weight limit for riding?

At this time we can accommodate riders weighing up to 225lbs.

Where are you located?

Fox Ridge Farm is located at 7 Anthony Lane, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. We are about 7 miles from downtown Saratoga Springs. The barn is right behind our family home.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe boots or shoes. We work hard to keep our barn clean but being around horses inevitable gets a little dirty so dress accordingly! Also, our horses love to nuzzle so horse slobber, though adorable, is a risk. If you plan to ride please wear long pants.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, cash, and personal checks. There is a $40 fee for all returned checks.

What is your cancellation policy?

We confirm all appointments at least 2 days in advance at which time you may cancel or reschedule without penalty. “No shows” will be charged $50.00 per hour missed.
